Hows everybody doing...I am interested in getting in on this whole domain buying and selling business...I feel i have a lot of good ideas for names but just not the time to develop them and feel i could pass them along to others for them to profit off of... I know there seems to be a lot of catches when it comes to registering a domain with certain hosts and then trying to transfer them to somebody else when they sold....I am currently using BlueHost with my sites, however im just not sure what their rules are when it comes to transferring domains...Can anybody recommend a place where i could buy a domain and sell it like a week later with no problems..
You're better off not registering domains at hostingcompanies, it's better to use ICANN accredited registrars. For a full list see http://www.icann.org/registrars/accredited-list.html The ones I like are: http://www.dynadot.com/, but for some reason it's not on the list, although they are and advertise being so... http://www.namecheap.com/ http://www.moniker.com/ But I guess the best for you is Godaddy, as for some really strange reason people use that most...
what are ICANN accredited registrars....how does that differ from getting a domain from a regular hosting company?.....Forgive me, i am new at this, just wanna give somebody my ideas and get a lil something for it...
I recommend Name Cheap. They are easy to push to another owner with a mouse click from your account. I have all my domains there and whe I sell a site, I can transfer the domain in a matter of seconds.
do i have to purchase actual webspace from them or can i just buy the domains? Cause i am already paying for webspace with Bluehost...I mean if i gotta buy more then i gotta buy more, u gotta do what u gotta do right....I guess im asking to many questions and should just look into it....Thanks for the info...Still not to sure what the difference is but hey, if i can get paid thats all that matters lol
Those are the companies who are allowed to register domains at the organisation who monitors it all, ICANN. Those companies have the authority to transfer domains, bluehost hasn't. Therefore, if you buy domain at bluehost, they are actually using one of the companies listed above and that means u have to deal with more companies/policies for the transfer and that never comes in handy
Make sure to read the sites terms that way you know if they charge a fee or hold domain name for certain eriod of time
ahh ok...thanks for the info...i will check out the sites u guys listed.... how hard is it to go about selling a domain though...like can anybody explain how a transaction would go...Should i list the domains on a site like Sedo and take it from there or what...Also, is there a lot of info i will need to get from the buyer or give to the buyer inorder to transfer the domain to them?....Like i said, i know nothing about this so bare with me...Just tryin to give it a good and see if its something i could possibly do someday...And i would like to collect from my ideas ya know?...If theres some sort of link u could give me or tell me how a transaction would take place, and what u do when U sell a domain that would be cool... much appreciated for the info already guys..
