    first of all let us know hat kind of sites would be hosted on it...load, traffic you expect...type of pages, dynamic? etc.

    I assume your image hosting script isnt sql intensive. According to your estimated pageviews, a box with P4/AMD cpu, 1GB RAM on a 10mbit unmetered will be good enough.

    Dont forget to optimize apache and mysql!

    If your just going to start the site now, you might as well start it out on a vps and than move to a dedicated when the need arises, I dont think you will need a dedicated in your first month.,
