thanks - everyone try doing this - its foundation stuff - but if you have strong foundations it will make your work alot better.

** we use a drop shadow that looks like a border because then we can add an inner white border and also have the grey outer shadow (border) given it the effect shown.

There are so many resources out there for learning photoshop techniques (and fireworks ) which will help you to produce a good standard of work.

(Some are free, others aren't)

Also, try http://www.good-tutorials.com

Another thing you can try is downloading some Photoshop Actions which take the labor out of creating certain elements.

 

yep lynda tutorials are really good - i would go as far as to say they are the best -- im not a huge fan of long text tutorials - and they are videos so i love them.
