Let's start with the link to sign up. First of all, it's tiny. Second of all, the page itself doesn't tell people WHY they should waste their time submitting their email. I mean it doesn't try to sell anything. Give people a reason they should trust you with their email. Give them something in return for their email. Now when you click on the signup link, you need to have it go to the www version of the page...because you're using an ssl certificate, and the certificate identifies the site as www.domain.com instead of just domain.com. When you try to go there with chrome, you get this: I would start with those two things.
