Hello- I'm working on a project and want a list of older web directories. Ones that have been online for at least 3+ years as a directory. Anyone have a good list??? Thanks!
WebsitesPromotionDirectory.com is online since 2005 Theres lots of directories online that were built on old dropped domains, you would really need to check the "wayback machine" to see if the site was actually a directory when the domain was first registered to be sure.

"Surf Safety" for one was originally created as some sort of child safety site. Also "Amray web directory" was some electron microscopes company domain when it was first created. I am not doubting the quality of the directories on your list they are all decent directories, just some might not be as old as there there wayback suggests.
I own quite a couple general directories...almost all of them 3 years or older, if age is all you are looking for. You might want to try the way back machine and see if some of the lists like directory critic or best web directories, etc. are archived. I tried one month with directory critic, but the free list from January 2006 wasn't archived. Anyway, if you poke around you'll probably find something archived on the way back machine.
Some good lists.... thanks guys. Some if not a lot of the ones on some of the list where other websites up until the last year or so then became directories.

Here are some general directory options. Most of these are over 3 years old. Top paid directories Top free directories List of 2300 paid directories. I recently added a "added date" so you can easily see the ones that were added in 2006.
My oldest directories are from 2007, so I guess they don't qualify. Had a directory which was started in 2006 once but I already disbanded it.
