I recently re-started a blog meme which was originated by Mack Collier of A Viral Garden, a marketing weblog. Why is it called the “The Z Listâ€? Collier named it the Z list to largely as a contrast against “the A listâ€, a term used to categorize a list of ‘elite’ or well-known bloggers with very popular blogs. The Z List emphasizes the sharing of blogs that are not widely read or known in the blogoshere. I guess you could see it as a shout out for the underdogs and a call for to experience blogs outside of any popularity or link-based ranking system. The Z list is initially an exercise to promote blogs outside of any veritable link-based ranking system and is a great way to gain exposure, traffic and readers for blogs that should be read but are not. The explosion in backlinks and increase in future Page Rank should be a side benefit and not the main focus. What are the benefits of joining the Z List meme? You’ll get a lot of fresh incoming links and traffic You’ll get a much higher Technorati ranking. (Ironic but true) You’ll get new readers and potential RSS subscribers You’ll most likely increase your blog’s Google Page Rank You’ll get to discover new blogs You’ll get to meet and correspond with bloggers from all over the world If any of you has a blog out there that'll like to participate in this blog meme, please visit this link for the full instructions. No Made For Adsense blogs please. Just blogs with quality content from any niche. Also, note that the point of the Z list is not to get a link back from me. You'll suppose to spread it and promote some blogs you think should get more exposure. When others spread the Z List, your blog will naturally get more backlinks and traffic because the other blogs will include YOUR blog on THEIR Z list. IMPORTANT: If you participate in the Z List meme. Please do not just copy and paste content from my blog without giving due credit or a link to the post. Leave a post if you have any questions.
ive created a post on my blog http://thygoodies.blogspot.com/2007/02/z-list.html please do add my link in the zlist
Thanks for participating in the meme, likely. Do note that the blogger you got the list from usually does not include the blogs that link to them on the Z list they posted. The main reason is that if they were to include everyone that linked to them via the Z list that they posted, the list of blogs would be extremely long, ranging into the hundreds and it wouldn't stop growing. This would make it seem a little unnatural and will be difficult for spreading the list. Imagine having to copy and paste 500+ blogs in one post! Usually you include the blogs that you would like to see get more exposure and when they continue the meme, they will include your blog on their list. And their readers will continue the meme, while blog remains on the list that is spread and it goes on and on. If anyone is confused, start by reading this post again.
