I just thought I'd check this section of DP and review some sites. A common theme I picked up is that most people are not thinking with their business hat on. A business is built around its competitive advantage - in other words what will make users want to use your site more than others. Some may not think this is important because they can use clever SE tactics to get the SEs to send them more traffic - but the best way to get a mass of SE traffic is to build natural backlinks to your site by people linking to your site because they genuinely find it of interest. So start looking at your competition and looking at how you can offer something better (be it covering different topics that they have over-looked, posting more regularly, making more in-depth posts etc.). You need to focus on a competitive advantage to really make your site work.
