I bought my current one just a couple months ago but it's malfunctioning; I dropped a litre bit of Coke on the keyboard a while ago and they're still stickied up, it's really slow etc too and I'd like to buy a 'sexier' one I currently have the Compaq Presario, any tips on good ones to get? My budget (coming out of my earnings ) is $2,000 USD
I've got a Dell D610, but going to upgrade in the new year. I would fully recommend the Dell Latitude D830 with 2GB RAM... Dual Core, etc...
Any pictures? I'm thinking about this one as it looks decent... has anyone on here ever bought AlienWare laptops before, and if so how are they?
AlienWare are good laptops...if you game alot, get one that is SLi. Also, I would go with an AMD X2 over the Core 2 Duo, just personal preference though. Get at least 2 gig of memory if you go vista x64
Will probably pass it off to my mother/one of my cousins, it's a basic model and still at a good enough speed for them
Avoid buying one at the big box stores. They are all made of parts from the lowest bidder so the performance is always crap. The last 2 laptops I have bought were from Staples and they always need memory upgraded and even then they still are slow as hell doing anything business related. Go to a performance-based company. Alienware.com for example.
Uh laptops - what do you want - to play games...to surf ... to work with graph. prog......???? You must explain more if you want to recive good tip. I would recomend to buy it with at least 3 year guaranty - I use HP and Dell - It works great !!
I don't really play games but I do download a lot daily. Excellent graphics and of course speed are essential; everything else pretty basic should be good
small HD, if you download a lot, get an external HD instead small ram, it is cheaper to get it separately buy one with better monitor, you won't regret spending extra hundred buck on that
With a $2000 budget, you are going to be able to purchase a great machine. Steer away from integrated graphics (you probably know this already) and go with something that comes with the works, but is upgradeable as well. Dell has some good warranty options as well as HP. Definitely go dual core, big hard drive, and lots of memory (Captain Obvious). I don't much about Alienware, but I've seen a lot of ads on their products. I would pick 4 models and then check some reviews on them...like at Epinions or a place like that. I would make my decision from that. Good luck!!!
