    Because thats DMOZ. There are lots of threads here about it. Just search and you will get some ideas. I've been waiting a year now for one of my sites to get listed.

    Question... Have you submitted your site to Yahoo for free inclusion?
    What is the status on that and did you get accepted?

    DMOZ, geez, you might as well wait for hell to freeze over instead of waiting for those guys to approve you. Unless it is one of the editors own spam sites, then that gets in the directory in about 30 seconds flat.

    The fox is really watching the chicken coop at that place. One time I submitted a site I had been working day and night on for months. I created over 100 original articles in my area of expertise for the site. The site was visually stunning (I had help from a friend who may be one of the top graphic artists in the country) and it had no ads, a nice domain etc. I submitted it in January of 2004. It has not been listed yet, despite the fact that this site had so much original content that it attained a pr5 based mostly on people linking to it who I had no idea they were doing so. I mean i was shocked to see the pr, but when i did a backlinks check I saw why. Meanwhile, I see editors flimsy, crappy, mfa sites and other assorted garbage getting approved. My site is still sitting in their timewarp waiting list, of course you never get so much as an email telling you why your site has not been included. January 2003. yeah corruptdmozeditor.com, you got that name right Jack.

    @primeryder

    Just because you think you have one of the 'top graphics artists in the country', (yea umm we ALL have one of those but whatever), and people have linked back to you, that does not mean you're guaranteed a listing in dmoz.

    I el oh el @ u

    Move on and just get over it. Don't say you are either, because it's 2006 and you're still talking about it. You wanted to give your example but it really wasnt neccessary and thus I am now going to call the waaaaaaahmbulance for you!)

    I wldnt hold your breath... you could be wating a couple of years. The quality of DMOZ has seriously dwindled over the last few years... its still regarded as one of the top directories but in my opinion there really is no point in worrying about a site you've submitted to them.

    That's the right attitude.
    It took me more than a year to get listed with my first site...

    On the other hand : when I purchased a domain for that site (I was on a free account before) I send them a mail to adapt the link and...received an answer within the 3 weeks.
    So, it's impossible to understand how they are working and what their priorities are.

    If you actually manage to get listed in DMOZ by whatever means just consider it a bonus. Don't count on it and don't hold your breath.
