W-8BEN form and payment question

This is a question for non-US people signed up to CJ. Do you need to complete the W-8BEN form and return it before you'll get paid? I'm in Australia, if that makes any difference.

    Thanks

the w8ben form, as far as i understand is necessary for non usa residents. it releases cj from retaining withholding tax. so if aussie want payment to bank account, we must fill and fax the form.

    Section 6, 7 not required

Actually, it’s meant to be general and not for CJ..

if you’re filling for CJ, you’d need to input your CJ account number under Part 1 and point 8 Reference Number.

Just so it's clear - SSN is social security number which you won't have unless you're a U.S. resident; ITIN stands for individual taxpayer number and is something you can apply for from your country. It's like having a person social security number for paying taxes to the U.S. and is what is assigned to non U.S. residents who are working in the U.S. and not eligible for a SSN. It is used for a few other things as well. EIN stands for employee i.d. number and is assigned to U.S. corporations/LLC's. You'll need this if you want to open a U.S. corporate bank account.

for the most part W8Bens are fairly straightforward and the form help w0lfenst1en gave is great.
