After making the mistake of expecting the site to take up more resources than I had thought, I want to chuck my dedicated server and save some money with VPS. I only have one (main) site:xoog.net, everything else is just testing sites for some web design work i do. I have been looking at rosehosting.com, but before making the decision i would like to see what other recommendations there are. Thanks in advance
currently, i'm using knownhost.com. but since my site is resource hungry, cpu resources can't accomodate enough for now. i'm moving to dedicated server (servstra.com)
i am going to go to dedic too.. do u kno which cpu better amd or pentium? for example pentium 2.8 or amd dp-64 athlon 3200 check this guys: http://dedicatedplace.com/webservers.htm
SIR, i opted for 'managed hosting' rather than self-managed. this is because they will patch my server, and i will never care about security etc. i'm taking an amd plan, xp 2600. sounds reasonable to me..
the hosting u said doesnt have xp 2600, only 3200.. and i think xp for $99 will do twice more then semprom.. dont u think so?
I opted for http://www.futurehosting.biz and their service is pretty nice. They got the option for both managed and unmanaged service. I actually went from a dedicated server to a reseller account to a VPS in which I am staying. If you using Cpanel, you will need a minimum of 256mb RAM, more is always better. The good thing about a VPS is that you can upgrade and downgrade the account with a few clicks.
Servers at www.serverpronto.com are only $29.95/m with free setup and these specs · AMD 2000+ · 256 MB DDR RAM · 40 GB Hard Drive · 200 GB Data Transfer · 100Mbps Connection I have never tried it though, but they have been around since 1999.
ive had a look at my and read a few reviews on the web and ive decided to go with rosehosting.com ... however managemybox.com is tempting me slightly as there seem to be some great reviews and even better prices for dedicated servers. although i think i will stick my guns and revert back to VPS with rosehosting, i trust them a lot more
