vps with possible upgrade options suggestions

I'm beginning a new project that requires a vps to begin with. Requirements: LAMP, fully managed, good upgrade options, fast network, and pretty cheap. Here's the kicker: if the project takes off we'll need to move from a vps to dedicated server, so we want to be with a company that has that capability, good service rep, good equipment.

We need the ability to expand with a top notch company that offers good value. I've got experience with two companies that I've been happy with (media temple and liquid web), but I need to expand that list with other good options.

Thanks for your suggestions in advance.

Even with their latest outage, ThePlanet has good services and are fairly competitive with their pricing.

Have a look at gandi.net - they're a French registrar (very good reputation) who recently added hosting.
They do VPSs with the ability to expand them on-demand to add more capacity. (I have one and am very happy).
However, you need to be able to do configuration yourself.

Alternatively, check out webhostingtalk.com which usually is the best place to find good hosting and/or reviews on various providers.

Cool, thanks for all these suggestions. I'm looking to build a list of 5+ companies that my partners and I can choose from and this will be a big help.

    best,

Hostv.com has some good vps hosting deals for your requirements.

VPS would be good solution for you, consider discussing your requirement with few host providers in your list.

I have had good experience with Media Temple
even though their VPS is not considered cheap ($50/month)

Their grid server is for hobby sites though
Don't use it for mission critical business websites
