What specs should I look for in a VPS for a site that gets 10k unique traffic daily and powered on Wordpress. I'm a total newbie to VPS

If you get a host with UML/Xen, around 256 - 384MB Ram. If OpenVZ, perhaps more. Hard Drive and Bandwidth is entirely how much you require, but I'd suggest a cPanel Control panel if you're new to VPS, with a Managed service.

You can also go for 512mb openvz vps with free lxadmin control panel. Use xcache and tune up mysql.

Very important about the cpanel comment and look for a host that provides that for reasonable price (Godaddy isn't bad, I know I'll probably get bombarded for that comment on here).

If you're new to VPS hosting you'll want a managed vps plan. If you want cPanel/WHM included go for at least 512 MB of guaranteed Ram which should cost around $40-$50 per month.
