Hi, First, I post this in here because I'm not allowed anywhere else yet. Here's my question: What does this potential host for a VPS mean by the quote below? Meaning, what are they talking about Name Servers are setup at the registrar where I have my domain name? Or is this something I must purchase? Noobie question, but I guess thats why I'm here. What name servers do I use? As all of our packages are virtual private servers you need to use name servers based on the domain name you own, these are setup at your domains registrar using two IP numbers we supply, the process is quite easy and our support team can help with this. Thank You
in short they'll give you 2 IPs. You login to your domain registrar, then create custom namservers and put the 2 IPs. Then set the nameservers of the domain to that you just created.
So then it is basically just like a shared hosting account where they give the nameservers and you make the change at the registrar? Sorry, never done anything more than a reseller account, but my Proxy just got the boot so I need to learn quickly. dalster44
No...you create your nameservers yourself. Example : [yourdomain.com] IPs they give you(say) : 111.222.333.444 and 111.222.333.445 Register your nameservers at registrar : ns1.yourdomain.com = 111.222.333.444 ns2.yourdomain.com = 111.222.333.445 Your Namervers : ns1.yourdomain.com and ns1.yourdomain.com [set this for all domain hosted on the VPS including yourdomain.com ] Got it ?
