I run a server at home, it is for game servers for my forum but lately every host i go to gives me problems whether its a big company or a new and small company - my luck is just really bad so I was hoping to set up my home server to host a few of my sites and If I can set up a VPS i'd be able to give the website part some of the resources they need without the game servers interfering and lagging it up. I can do it the old regular apache way but if I could set up a VPS i believe it would be a bit better although I am not sure. I am not going to try to sell hosting on here, just for me and a few websites. Recommendations on Where I can go to find good programs or software is appreciated. +Rep will be given to all that helps Thanks!
Hi, a vps is just a virtual machine, try with virtualbox http://www.virtualbox.org or qemu http://fabrice.bellard.free.fr/qemu/ (both are free). Edit: openvz works fine too http://openvz.org
thank you both of you - i've been checking out freevps.com - i'll check those out as well it's for linux OS - i'll have to log in to my server later and try it out - and i was aware a vps is a virtual machine it's in the name +rep given to both of u
