If you have a VPS with enough resources would it be possible to sell vps packages from that vps? If so what tools would be needed to make this possible. (For learning purposes only) Thanks, Richard.
I think if you would like to provide VPS services you need to have at least dedicated server. Bit better if you can use VPS reseller account for that.
Thanks for the source, you got me thinking about ordering a vps from b2vps lol they have some good prices.
No, but you could sell shared hosting. A VPS can't be a host for other VPS's. It is best to just resell VPS service from a VPS provider. Or become an affiliate with a hosting company that offers a nice commission payout on your sales. Some offer huge upfront payouts and a smaller monthly recurring commission that will grow the more you sell. Just need to look around and find the host that offers you the best payouts and has very good service so your sales stay put and keep earning you a check.
On the VPS all you can do is sell shared hosting plans, cpanels accounts and configure different options depending the capacity of VPS you select too.
I love the misinformation in some of these threads, especially from hosts who "supposedly" know what they're doing with VPS. Since nobody answered your question correctly, I figured I ought to step in and help you out. Yes, it can definitely be done, however, it's not at all recommended. Performance issues are going to be your biggest problem, but it will run, and is most definitely possible. You would need to put OpenVZ, Virtuozzo, etc. on a Xen or KVM VPS.
um... okay, run a vps from within a vps and see what happens. If its not at all recommended, then how is it misinformation? IF it could work, then the vps would need a butt load of ram to support the loaded vps guests.... not very profitable, responsive, etc. again, its best to resell from a vps provider or sell shared hosting from the vps guest
I've done it! I've done it plenty of times without issue. You should do the same thing, to see that it can actually be done, instead of just outright saying it can't. "No, but you could sell shared hosting. A VPS can't be a host for other VPS's." That's entirely 100% inaccurate. What's best and what isn't has absolutely nothing to do with the original question. He clearly noted it was for learning purposes only. In fact, he didn't say a word about reselling VPSs. You're the one who brought up affiliates and reseller programs, not him!
Thanks, for the information I never intend on selling VPS Packages within a VPS. Random thoughts came to my mind and I just wanted to know if it was possible to do it, I understand that it's to recommended and I will not do it, the guy above said it couldn't be done and that he recommends reselling VPS from some other source (host) I got a private message from him offering me his service. I guess the only reason why he said it wasn't possible was to try and get me to resell his service? Anyways thanks a lot for the information.
For some reason, that's not at all surprising. But I guess that's how some people choose to do business. Oh well. In any event, nothing to stop you from doing it just to play around with it and see how it works. After all, that's how we learn things. If you have an interest in doing it, I say go for it! You'll be able to see any of the limitations, etc., first-hand. Glad we finally got you the answer you were looking for.
I can see here that you have some very affordable VPS packages, how does your DDOS Protection work and how accurate is it?
I am apologize for thinking you were seeking to resell your virtual server by segmenting it into multiple vps servers. Most decent sized VPS servers include 1 GB of RAM and most linux servers need at least 384 MBs of RAM to provide any sort of php/mysql services. We are all here to do business of some sort. I wasn't trying to step on any ones toes, and I should have said that most virtual servers offered via hosting companies can't be a VPS host machine that hosts other VPS guests. I am not here to argue, only to help provide solutions.
still impossible in my eyes as you will need the software used to run your vps to allow you to split ressources which is only the fact if you own a reseller account with all hosting companies I know. You can still try but you will need an account to allow you to do so It's not because @WSWD wants to sell his stuff
