i have a small business and will remain to keep my company small; stay with VPS or go with a dedicated server?
Dedicated will always be better and the $/performance ration is the best . If you know how to use it it will be dozens of times better then any VPS .
Dedicated server is more expensive than VPS.. if your web site require not so many resources, it will be better to stay on VPS. How much bandwidth and disk space do you use?
I would say that you should find out how many resources your project need. If you have this information you can start using VPS with hardware-assisted virtualization technology which is almost as efficient as a real comparable hardware-based server (performance loss accounts for 5%) and give you possibility increase resources for some minutes without hardware and software changes. But if your project will be so huge that the biggest VPS plan isn't able to satisfy a demand you should take a dedicated server. I can help you to choose best configuration for your project. Don't hesitate to ask me.
Of course dedicated server is the best choice, you should choose VPS or dedicated server as you needed
Does VPS gives you some limitations? Low resources? Have you tried an higher end VPS plan? If yes, go with dedicated server, and good luck
if it is small then VPS when it will grow up then move to dedi or only new accounts in dedi...............
Unless you're a n00b , running a non-profit site or you're a webmaster that's fallen from a tree multiple times you should be able to cover the costs of a dedi whit ease . Dedis offer you the whole shazam and the guarantee that no one will ever take CPU or RAM from you . Speed is at the essence of every website and a well setup dedi will eat a VPS without a problem .
VPS's are highly scalable.. Many companies can start you with a tiny one and upgrade you to levels higher than many dedicated servers.
No one should be able to tell you what to go with unless they know how much resources does your business requires
