vps or dedicated? help plz.

    Hello dpers,

    Currently, I have more than 10 websites under me hosting in 3 different reseller account. 3 of my sites consume up to 15 to 20Gb per month and climbing (they are about flash ties)

    I would like to upgrade it to either a VPS or dedicated and my budget is less than 50$ per month. I would like to hear:

    - whether it's a smart choice to move from reseller to dedicated
    - what's the benefits of dedicated hosting?
    - what's the different between dedicated and vps?

    any suggestion on the upgrade, guys?

    Well, it's a good idea to move to dedicated IMO.I recommend dedicated over vps some cheap dedi becuase vps is not the best becuase it has restrictions aswell the only difference between reseller and vps is that you have root acess where as in dedi you can use whole server resources do whatever you want :)

    by the way what is the use of having root access or having the whole server to myself? does it mean by having dedicate server, i am renting the WHOLE server to myself?

    What is the cheapest dedicate server you have seen so far?

    In fact, i'm looking to host some image hosting sites or proxy or even video sites if possible.

    Root acess means that you can install whatever you want on server and you can use 100% SErver resrouces that means the whole server is your.Do whatever you want..Checkout www.webhostingtalk.com for cheap deals www.managemybox.com have some good deals going on..Dont forget to check servers4sale.com :).

    Yes, they are.Although some people posted negative reviews but i had good experience with them.I highly recommend you not to do webhosting as users can easily abuse server.It is alot of mess.Just host your and your friend's site who are trusted and dont sell hosting to unknown people :) unless you are very expert in securing server etc. :)

    depends on what kind of revenue you're generating from the site....if you're generating enough, definitely go dedicated otherwise just stick with VPS.

    I went dedicated and I'm so glad I did.

    what the positive point of going dedicate, fsmedia? faster? secure? low downtime??

    thanks saad, I think i will go with managemybox with 79$ per month (I have around 200$ per month from adsense, so I hope it's good enough for me to go with such plan). what do you think?

    Yep, that's a good idea.Your earnings will definately improve on dedi.Fast speed, less downtime and more visitors, sales etc:)My adsense earnings are around 500$ and i have 2 dedicated :) now.

    seems you dont need dedicated nor having the budget

    go for a vps with powervps.com
    i used them in the past and they're excellent
