VPS hosting $500 per year?

I have around $500 to spend on hosting. My site is currently on Hostmonster.com and whilst they have been pretty good, with the least downtime I have had so far. I have outgrown them somewhat and the shared hosting world in general.

I am therefore looking to move to VPS and wanted to find something within the price range the minister of finance has agreed to.

    My site is http://www.silvertails.net
    Joomla with SMF integrated

We get around 40,000+ hits per month (going by my commissionmonster stats we are so far on 78,000 hits for may)

We use between 10 and 25GB of bandwidth a month, but I want to allow room for the busier months and probably don't need anymore than 5GB. I know you don't oft find cpanel as part of these accounts but that would also be preferable.

An extra bonus that I would really love would be a host in Australia that offers this as most of my traffic comes from Australia.

    Cheers
    Dan

If you are looking for a VPS (Fully Managed) for approx $50 month, I would recommend FutureHosting (for low price), KnownHost (for quality support) and WiredTree (for both).

Basically your looking to spend $41.66/month on a VPS. Are you familiar with managing a VPS?

    cheers guys.

I know enough about managing servers that I could probably manage my own VPS. So can afford to go down a slightly cheaper route. I am also considering crazydomains.com.au as they are located in Australia

Before considering crazydomains, there are certainly excellent other AU hosting providers who will fit your requirements. I can't comment anything about them, but we do have a fair number of customers migrated from crazydomains to our company.

If you are looking for offers from AU providers, I recommend that you give WebHostingTalk Australia a visit or if you are looking for reviews on these AU companies, visit WhirlPool.
