I would like to set up a private VPN on a VPS.
Requirements: 2 vCPUs, 4 GB RAM, 60 GB SSD, 1 Gbps network port, and privacy-friendly jurisdiction.
What are your recommendations? Will it be worth trying regvps.com hosting? Any reviews please?

I've finally found a good home with Regvps.com web host. Their support is great. They're easy, friendly and they seem to really care about their clients.
It's good cheap hosting. The commitment to customer satisfaction is evident in their exceptional support team. Their refund policy is fair and customer-friendly, making them a risk-free choice.

Built-in caching significantly improves website speed. Look for providers offering LiteSpeed, Varnish, or other caching tools. I am quite happy using hostingsource.com and GTHost.com vps hosting solutions. The servers are optimized for performance, delivering consistently fast speeds. Their seamless WordPress hosting takes the hassle out of managing a website. Every issue is resolved quickly and professionally. Compare these vps hosts.

Key Considerations for Private VPN on VPS
    • Privacy-Friendly Jurisdiction: Opt for providers in countries with strong privacy laws (e.g., Switzerland, Iceland, Panama, or EU countries like the Netherlands or Sweden) that minimize data retention and government surveillance.
    • Performance: A 1 Gbps port, SSD storage, and sufficient CPU/RAM ensure fast VPN connections, especially for multiple devices or high-bandwidth tasks.
    • VPN Software: Use OpenVPN or WireGuard for secure, efficient VPN setups. Ensure the provider supports Linux (e.g., Ubuntu) for easy configuration.
    • Security: Look for DDoS protection, firewalls, and no-logs policies to enhance privacy.
    • Support and Ease of Use: Managed or unmanaged VPS options depend on your technical expertise. Root access is essential for VPN setup.

Sure! Setting up your own private VPN on a VPS is a great way to control your privacy, and your specs are more than enough for most setups — even for running multiple protocols like OpenVPN and WireGuard simultaneously.

Your listed specs (2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM, 60 GB SSD, 1 Gbps port) are solid. That setup should easily handle a personal VPN server for multiple devices, and even moderate traffic routing or split tunneling.

About Jurisdiction | For privacy-friendly jurisdictions, I'd recommend looking into VPS providers based in:
    • Iceland – strong data protection laws
    • Switzerland – great privacy stance
    • Romania – decent laws and good pricing
    • Netherlands – balanced privacy + performance
RegVPS is based in Moldova, which isn’t too bad from a privacy perspective. It might be worth testing, but I’d recommend:
    • Checking if they support custom ISO uploads (if you want full control).
    • Verifying whether they allow full root access and support TUN/TAP interfaces for VPN.

Website speed is greatly increased by built-in caching. Seek out companies that supply Varnish, LiteSpeed, or other caching solutions. I'm really pleased with the vps hosting services offered by hostingsource.com and GTHost.com

Using a VPS to host your own VPN is a great option if you want full control and better privacy compared to commercial VPN services. Just make sure to pick a VPS with good bandwidth and a server location close to you for better speed, and choose a provider with a solid privacy policy. You’ll need some basic tech skills to set up and maintain the VPN software (like OpenVPN or WireGuard) and keep your server secure, but overall it’s a flexible and reliable way to run your own VPN.
