VPS for running mySQL as a slave?

    Hi,

We have a dedicated server which runs our site, but we want to replicate the data on another server using a "slave db" in mySQL. I think VPS would be the best way to do this... Can anyone recommend a VPS which is good value and reliable to best perform this task. I need root as I need to set-up the slave option in mySQL.conf.

    Thanks

Do you want company recommendation or the way(settings) to do it?

    Hi,

A company\packages... We have a windows dedicated server which runs mySQL and our webserver - this works fine. What I want to do is run a mySQL slave on a server just dedicated for this duty to backup. I was looking at a few plans but they would all be an overkill!

Does any know who offers a lower end VPS just for running mySQL as a slave and these duties? I won't be hosting from there etc

    Thanks

Go get a 128MB VPS with cheapvps.co.uk, install debian linux and mysql server ;)
Rus @ cheapvps should help you setup the thing if you're not upto the skills.
Tell him agnivo007 referred you...that should do it even if its unmanaged. :p

Depends upon how busy and large your DB is...
128MB with 256MB burst should be good enough to just run mysql server for most people.
You can go for 256MB guaranteed if you find the need for it.
CheapVPS is a sister company of A2B2...they have good reputation.
