how is the bandwidth managed on this box? what is the port speed? i've tried a few VPS and they start off good then get totally saturated and the speed slows to a crawl...

That sounds like the resolve entries weren't setup while the VPS was being created.

 

I do not have any problem running apt-get or wget on my VPS. I think LH-Danny right about it.

 

yes if wget does not work u need to set up resolv entries in resolv.conf file i have pmed you the entries that need to be made there
