I am posting to get some honest replies from people to kind of use as vouchers on a problem I'm having. I live in a house with someone who is absolutely positive that he knows more about computers than me so this thread will be used as some form of a reference.

I live with my parents. Recently, we got 1.5mbps DSL. There are 3 computers in my house. My mom uses one that she surfs the web and manages an online store on, I use one to manage multiple websites, talk on AIM, and browse the web with, and on the family computer my brother is always playing a game that is 100% dependant on ping and click response.

Is it or is it not true that with 3 people on a 1.5mbps DSL network simultaneously, downloading and browsing the web should be very easy, and that playing an online, ping-dependant game with 2 other people regularly using the internet for basic purposes will be difficult and unstable? Let me know how you'd solve a problem when the one person in the house who is complaining is the person who needs a constant 50ms ping on a wireless network...

The computers he is on is the only computer in the house using ethernet, every other is using wireless. True or false that ping-dependant gaming on wireless is nearly impossible, and if you are wired you should be having the best performance in the house?

The two people in this house using wireless have had 0 problems, it's only the person using the wired, main connection and who is gaming who is complaining.
