Voting Poll on blog but low action/participation

    Hey Hey.

Trying to increase repeat traffic. I always have a POLL running for visitors to vote + 1 to 3 articles per day.

Yesterday I started having the Poll Sponsored and those who vote and enter have a chance to win the prize (worth about $50). Item will change with new question/poll (thus increase repeat traffic - I think).

Yet - still low participation with 1,000ish unique per day.

Is it that hard to get people to participate?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

The poll is kind of hidden and looks a bit dull. Have a nicer border around it and perhaps a solid background color.

Yes. Very difficult. If you look at the extremely popular voting sites, you will notice that very few people actually vote considering the number of visitors. Also consider that lots of the voters on these popular sites are "quasi-professionals". So, with 1000 visitors, I would say you would be doing great at 10 voters.

I think it is a good poll, maybe the question isn't good?

ya - this question isn't the best. But I've had much better. If I run with what RichRF said - then I'm probably get the most I could expect. Cheers!
