I am currenty involved in a situation in which the winner of my design contest is not responding to my PMs or delivering the winning design for the time-sensitive contest for which I awarded him the prize. What is unbelievably frustrating is that this person is currently participating in numerous other contests, posting designs for other contest-holders, while neglecting my time-sensitive contest that he already won. I'm interested in what other members think about this practice.
Wow, I don't know the full story but it is unethical especially after you made payment. Have you given an Itrader point? If not, let him know in this thread that you will be giving him a negative point. Sorry to hear this. I wish you luck.
Well, I never send payment until receiving the completed project. I have an excellent track record of paying quickly afterwards. I would prefer not to leave negative iTrader. All I want is my project delivered. I am SOOOO behind schedule. It was an urgent, 3-day contest that ended on August 9. The project entails coding the winning PSD to html. I don't think there is any excuse for this delay and not resposing to my PMs, considering the person's active involvement in many other contests--right now. Indeed, thank you for your concern.
I must admit that I am surprised by the lack of participation thus far in this thread. Is this not an important, relevant poll?
I voted 'Yes, but only if the new contest does not delay delivery of the previous contest-holder's project.' As an active participant in these forums, I enter a few contests per week (I had a hiatus when my client work became too much). If i happen to win a contest, I will ask the CH for any amendments to the work via PM. If, when they reply, I am working on another contest entry, I will without fail save and close that, and work on the project for the CH who has paid me. It's common sense and good manners. I will work on the other entry in between correspondance with the person I am making modifications for. It works well and nobody is missing out. I'm assuming that the designer in question is reluctant due to the 'send the work before you get paid' way of doing this, which isn't a common practice on here. Obviously, you're a genuine CH and have had no gripes in the past so that isn't even an issue really.
Great points. The winner was well aware of my payment rules, as he had won at least one of my contests previously. To this moment, he still has not responded, even though his last contest design entry was yesterday. If he has a problem with the money arrangement, just tell me. Don't ignore me, waste my time, make me fall behind schedule, and rob a win from one of the other contestants who could have delivered to me long ago and enjoyed the $225.
Yes, i concur. There isn't really an excuse for the ignoring of any correspondence from you. Obviously your contest did state the PSD needed coding and the prize also reflected this. As far as I can remember it also stated that this was an urgent project (I believe this was one reason I opted out of submitting on this one..). I would be most frustrated myself and I can absolutely understand your grievences on the matter. Not too sure what options you have regarding this, however I do hope you get the result you want. Obviously I don't know the full situation so i'd rather not pass judgement but it would be at least a gesture for the person at fault to show their face in here and get it sorted out. Personally i'd have just asked for the PSD after maybe a week and paid the winner a reduced prize and then paid someone else to code it Hindsight is a wonderful thing though.
