A VOIP provider, VBuzzer, seemingly gave away my business number and it is now registered to someone else. Here is the message I posted on their forums. It was deleted shortly after I posted it the other day, so I re-posted it again today. I want to know what kind of legal action I can take against this company, as it is going to be expensive for me to change my business print material to a new phone number, not to mention contacting all my clients about the phone number change. Thanks _____________ I have been a customer since back in 2006, doing the pay as you go plan... and about a month ago I was telling someone about how great VBuzzer is, and I called my own number to show them how the voicemail worked and to my surprise we didn't get the voicemail when we dialed the numner..... Instead, some guy answered the phone who couldn't speak any english! I emailed the VBuzzer support right away, they told me: "Your number expired since you did not have sufficient credit in account when our system tried to auto-renew your subscription. Now the number is not available, it means somebody has already taken this number. please subscribe another phone number" How is this possible? I recieved a voice mail on October 26th through that VBuzzer number, and then on October 28th my number no longer belongs to me?!? This was within the same billing cycle, and there is still money in my account! how could this have happened? More importantly, what can I do now.... VBuzzer isn't providing any help at this point, and I need to get my number back as it is on all the promotional material for my business! I hope you guys can give me some advice, Thanks....
Time to get a good lawyer and go after them. You may also want to contact the FTC as I believe they regulate the industry.
