The FTC has changed the voice broadcasting laws. Many companies used voice broadcasting for marketing purposes up till Sept 2009. They benefited from voice broadcasting as a cheap method of mass marketing to their existing clients and to find new clients. Now that the laws have changed these companies will need to find new ways to communicate with their clients. The laws for voice broadcasting stipulate that you can send a message only to people that have given written permission to recieve a voice broadcast message. This stipulation is the "fly in the ointment". For those who's businesses relies on voice broadcasting and cant do without it, there is a legal solution to the problem. Its called "voice mail courier". Voicemail courier is legal because it "couriers" each message right to voicemail by a live agent. Might be a bit more costly that the standard rates of 3 cents for a voice broadcast, but it works and its effective. I'm glad that this has happened - nothing worse than getting called up repeatedly by a recorded message
