    It's miss-spelt (I think they thought it looked 'cool') as vodafone.

    The name came about from two companies that came together - Vodata and Vodacom or something... So the 'vo' part is 'voice' and the 'da' part came from 'data'...

    What does Voda translate to in Banglai?

    As for the fuss over Airtel, it is indeed one of Vodafone's competitors in India. But its official website is www.airtel.in and not airtel.com
