If you want to build a relationship with your readers - then this is perhaps one of the most important lessons. When you write to your subscribers - imagine you are having a conversation with just one person and not to a whole group. Always address your subscriber as "you" in all your emails. Don't say things like, "some of you," "all of you" or anything that indicates your writing to a group. Make your subscriber feel like you're writing only to him (or her) Sure - your subscribers aren't dumb and know that you have other subscribers -- but just changing the way you write can have a profound effect. Try it and you'll see that it works like a charm!
Good point, mkcookin, but from my personal experience it is equally important what you post to someone's timeline, not just how you address your message. If your text is boring, be prepared to watch people unsubscribe and the likes counter go down. Being able to capture attention and interest is vital.
I agree Clive What we post is very important. We should always aim to give massive value to our subscribers -- while throwing is some entertainment to keep them interested. You want to develop a 1 on 1 relationship with your subscribers. Show them you actually care... that there is a real person behind your email address. I find a great way of doing this is act like you're talking to an old friend. Tell them an interesting story about yourself, or what you did earlier that week like go see the new superman movie. Your subscribers will start to see you in a 3 dimensional type of way -- and really start to connect with you.
