    Hello friends,

In making screencasts for a web application, what are the things that need to be considered?

May you give me any advice to keep in mind? I'm not really looking as much for software guidance, the suggestion that I highly want has something to do on how to end up with a better result. Do you think it is good to record the voice and screens separately? Is there something I should never (or always?) do?

Any suggestion you can provide is highly appreciated!

Well, depends on what you are going to demonstrate. If at all possible write a script and read it aloud during the recording. This will cut out all the errs, hums, and hiccups a screencast usually has.

If you can't write an exact script (say, are demonstrating a graphics package and can't plan each step), then rehearse and rehearse, recording the screencast.

All this increases production effort (plan 4 times the final duration) but increases production values a lot.

Recording voice and screen at separate times usually does not work. But you can record the video with audio, transcribe the audio (premiere pro and adobe soundbooth do this with 1 click) and then re-record the audio over the video.

Things to always do: water your mouth and keep a glass of water handy. Make sure mic levels are correct before each take. Oh, and keep videos short, using the standard presentation formula: tell the viewer what you are about to show, show and tell it, then briefly recap what you said.

    Hope this helps!
