    Hello

I read that is it very rewarding to get high quality backlink from the social bookmarking sites such as www.digg.com.

However, when I went there, I discovered that digg.com does not support HTML in comments. Therefore, I can ‘t use anchor text and I am wondering how ordinary url will translates to quality backlinks.

But I guess I am be wrong – perhaps I don’t know how to use tag and bookmark to get links to my site. Please can you enlighten me on this issue? Anyway, I’m still trying to figure this out – but all the same will appreciate your help.

    Thanks.

In order to properly use these services, you have to figure out how they work and what the community expects....If you had taken some time to look around the Digg site, you would have learned all you needed

And please, for my sake, do not spam digg with worthless stories

The point about Digg is not to get links from Digg itself. The idea is that if your site gets on the digg front page you get about 20,000 visitors who then might decide to link to your site from their sites.

Spamming digg (in particular) can cause some nasty consequences. It's relatively rare - but a quick hunt through google will show you people who've had their site bombarded with malicicious comments, prank phone calls etc.

The digg user base is relatively less "refined" than other social media networks - so its well worth limiting the kind of spam you describe.

Social bookmarking is more useful as a marketing tool than a SEO tool in my opinion.

Social bookmarking can really help your site in getting traffic. Not only Digg but a lot more out there. Try also Netscape and StumbleUpon.
