Windows 2006 is going to be called Vista.
Windows Vista will have different version like windows xp did (home, pro,b uniess etc)
There are going to be 6 different version of windows vista, one of which is going to be called "starter"

So vistastarter.com will be a VERY EXPANSIVE domain very soon.

Good catch. I'd be a little bit worried about the potential trademark issues - unless a site was planned as a parody site. I think even a strong resource site would be targetted by MS if it became popular. With a parody, you could probably get by.

Now I take all that back! I just did a trademark search at uspto and the trademark windows vista - and windowsvista does not belong to Microsoft! Seems like a bizarre twist, but I didn't see any trademarks owned by Microsoft for the basic search "Vista".

These were filed in August and July of this year.

I would think that having this information would at least help in garnering a little bit of interest - since the phrase "vista starter" is untrademarked - at least with my basic research - and the "windows vista" trademark is wholly unrelated to Microsoft Windows it should be safe to create a resource domain - of course right now you have to assume that windows will actually be called Vista - but it seems a safe bet at this point. I think the sale/purchase of this domain while there is a lack of clarity with the trademark office is ideal. Unfortunately for you, I'm incapable of creating a decent Windows resource site, so I'm not interested, but hopefully this information helps you out with your sale.

Hey nevetS, I was a little worried about TM issues. But at namepros we came to a decision that it would only have TM problems if it contained the word microsoft also. As 'Vista' actually means 'view' and they cannot TM that word, and starter means well, starter lol :)
    Kind Regards, Billy.

Actually, Leatherman owns the trademark on Vista - but again, putting up a windows related site would not be considered infringement because there is no way a Windows site would be confused with a leatherman.

Yep no TM issues with this domain.. microsoft tm's are windows and microsoft as long as vista names do not have either of them in it they will be fine. I am a mcse trainer and when i registered my vista names i asked colleges at microsoft uk where i visit regular if there were any tm's with mine and they said no.

So i wish you well with this domain.
