Vista/XP dual boot issues

I can't find any specific forum for this so I'm hoping to find some answers here.

I want to install XP on my Vista laptop and dual-boot. I really don't even need to even access Vista again, especially since it's not in my native language.

I would prefer to format the hard drive and get rid of Vista forever but it's such a hassle with all the missing drivers.

So my questions if I dual-boot are:

    1. will there be any driver compatibility problems. My laptop uses an IDE controller.

    2. Will the newly installed XP be able to access all pre-existing docs and applications?

Thanks for any tips. And let me know if there's a better place to post this thread.

you would be better to get rid of vista all together and replace with XP,there wil likely be conflicts to run both of them

I had no problems in running both of them on my lappy. But still if you dont wanna keep vista then just format the drive and replace it with XP. Although you would face one problem that reversing the version of windows is not possible when there is vista installed.

Regarding accessing the files and applications, be tension free because XP will access all of them.
