I have an Acer Core 2 Duo laptop with 2 gb RAM and Vista Home Premium and I can't count the number of times that it's almost gone through the window. It hangs for any reason and then takes ages to restart. I have, at one time, had to try 11 times before it would start...I have XP Pro SP2, but it doesn't support SATA so I have to fart about (Techie term...) with it if I want to change the OS. I also have a PC with XP Pro SP2, Core 2 Duo, 1 gb RAM, never ever gives me any trouble. Definitely XP for me.
go with vista if you've got the juice to run it. I haven't had a problem, but I can see where older, low-powered machines would suffer, and don't believe Microsoft's minimum specs - get something better! Also, bear in mind that Vista will all but certainly be supported longer than XP
Go for XP, if don't want to cry for slow pc. Vista need too much space ram and etc. problem! Otherwise wait for Windows7.
Good luck finding a laptop or pc with anything but Vista installed these days. My 0.02 - avoid Vista till its finished ie never
2+ cores processor, 4+ GB of RAM and a powerful Video Card would run excellent in Vista. Anything less than that will result in a complete mess. Until Microsoft fixes all Vista bugs you'd better stay safe with XP
vista looks diferent and im sure its better somehow but you know what, xp is good enough. also, sometimes there new designs get annoying cause you are just not used to them. but i will go for vista just because its newer and could be better.
I think it really depends on what you do. If you're computer is just for running "day to day" programs I'd stick with XP, if you're running high end programs/games get Vista.
Sorry, but Vista is a joke. If Microsoft doesn't improve their new OS by the time I'm ready to purchase a new computer I'm switching to Mac.
I agree with most people: higher end pc = vista But remember xp only supports 3gb of ram so if you have more you might as well get vista
I downgraded a new PC back to XP it's a hassle but worth it. If you can buy with XP already running then get it. You can always upgrade if you really feel the need but imho Vista doesn't offer more in terms of performance or compatibility so why use it?
I dont see why people say vista sucks.. I have it and i have no problem with it. If you say it sucks say why. cause I dont see any problem
