Vista - Slow - Adding more RAM?

Probably you have the same problem....

    I have lenovo 3000 C200 with 1GB RAM with
Dual Core processor, I think 1.73 (I don't really remember,
and I'm working now on another PC...)

If I'll add one more gigabyte RAM it will be significant faster?

I'm referring for the ones who did it...

Yeah, there should be an improvement. 1GB in my opinion is not enough to run vista with all these high spec programs we have these days

I use 1GB and everything runs really fast. I am using Core2Duo 1.8Ghz processor which works great as well. I am really happy with my current setup but in December/January I will buy two monitors so I can use two at once and may consider upgrading my ram while I am at it. Another thing I have to attend to is my sound card, I have 5.1 speakers but can only use 2.1 because I do not currently have a sount card lol.

I think 1GB will speed it up a little. It matters what you do however. If you have around 70 tabs open in firefox but also say a designer, then the 2GB total may not be enough. I think vista needs around 800MB just to run. I prefer XP to be honest ;)

1GB should be enough to handle Vista and background running backgrounds. My computer has a Core2Duo 2.40GHz and 2GB of RAM which is enough for Vista and quite a few programmes.

1 gig is the absolute minimum for Vista. 2 gig will makes things run a lot smoother.

I have got 2gb and its working as fast as XP. If you want to use Vista the only way to go is to get a 2gb ram.

I'm happy with vista and it is working smoothly at my hp pavillion 2 GB C2D machine. I never got ALT+CTRL+DELETE problem which I was getting frequently with XP.

I think they actually recommend 2GB to run Vista, so adding 1GB will speed up your computer but it still won't run great. But then again Vista is a huge memory hog. If you have some basic computer knowledge, there are programs out there that can shrink your Vista installation down and speed it up bigtime. You just select what you don't want in the installation, I have removed a bunch of programs I never use and things like the help files. My Windows Vista install size is therefor only 5,5gb.

There's also the option of switching back to XP.
