Vista could have been a reference system if needed less sources of the computer. Unfortunately this is not true even by adding the SP1 ...
Any os is better then vista, It just uses up ram for no apparent reason (except fancy menu gui) I actually burnt my copy after seeing it on a friends pc, Built my new pc and was gonna put it on it but hell no! I'm sticking to xp. Why mess with something that was so easy to use, Yet on vista seems impossible? Microsh*t really messed up here.
xp all the way, vista is soooo annoying, aero cost them how much, and its flippin awful. performance should never be sacrificed for looks, performance is wizard:>:>:>:>:>
Other than Vista copying many aspects of linux, And the fact it's buggy, and it sucks, and did I mention bugs, yeah it's ok. Linux open suse 11. Thats a better OS
I didn't want to take the plunge either but after using Vista for a couple of months I have no problems with it. No problems finding drivers, no problems running older software and it's a rocket running on my Quad Core with 4GB of ram.
I wouldn't exactly say it rocks but I do like it very much. I've had it on my laptop for more than a year now and i've gotten quite used to it. One thing I must say though is that my Vista Laptop crashes at heck of a lot less than my XP Sp2 desktop computer, and the desktop computer was build only 3 months earlier. Overall the laptop does run slow on occasions, and its clear to see why as I rarely reboot it. I don't really game much on it but when I do I always make sure to kill a few of the Vista processes such as dvm.exe and it does make it run faster in game. Lappy only has 1 gig of ram on a Core2 Duo and it runs reasonably well, and fast. Although, if people learnt to optimize their systems better as well as keeping them clean of crap then i'm sure Vista would run nicer and faster for you. Neither, use additional software and you can have the best of both.
I have no problems with Vista either, and i love it. Works much better than Xp ever did. of course my system is designed for vista, so that could be why i have zero problems, and why it works better than linux or xp ever did for me. I love it
None of windows systems are really secure, Take OS and servers, Both weak. Though you take linux now thats secure and a good OS.
I actually replied to this post 3 days ago on my vista laptop but I missed the oh so convenient "Posting this requires admin rights, do you want to continue?" dialogue box. In all seriousness though. I gave Vista a 6 month trial but I just had to switch back to XP. I have a monster system that ran Vista well, I just got tired of all the compatibility issues and all the dialogue boxes.
4 gigs of ram, 256 mb graphics, 2 Ghz core 2...have to say, Vista runs extremely well on my laptop. Had big reservations about it at first and even looked in to installing XP, but once you get used to the new setup, it's really good to use, and very fast if you have the computer specs. The most annoying thing about Vista is when you are on your battery and the laptop goes to sleep, it switches off the wireless card for power saving, the only way I've found to switch it back on again is to restart the laptop. But overall, I'd go with Vista over XP. Didn't think I'd be saying that 3 months ago!
