Compared to what XP was at it's begining it rocks... the first releases of XP were terrible: lot of security holes, crashes and so on. It may be slow sometimes (i noticed it stais longer to copy large files) but it's more user friendly and let's hope with realeses of updates it will be more stable and safer.

I'm settled into XP and migrating now would mean a big investment in time as I am sure there would be device driver and application compatibility issues if I upgraded to Vista. Seems like Vista was kind of a flop IMO.

I have 2.8gig dual core, 1 gig ram with Vista pre-installed. Frankly it's a dog. I can compute faster using a calculator. Recently it took 17 minutes to close down, and that's with indexing turned OFF in the services. Utter sh*te. XP is far from perfect but at least it is reasonably fast. So far the best OS for me has been Win 2k - it's XP without the bells and whistles, it's fast and reliable.

I have crap loads of resources on the laptop, but vista still doesn't feel good... besides I grew old on XP, why change, when there is no added functionality besides revamped interface...

    Hello,
Vista is great if you have a good mount of memory, if you have 512MB you are out! For my opinion minimun you need 1GB.

    My 2 cents,
    Jakomo

I hear that, I made my vista disk into a very expensive drink coster, but I only paid $9 for it since it was the optional upgrade at the time.
