i would advice you to increase your ram and add a good AGP card which supports pixels shader 2.0 and direc x 9.0c it must be above 128 mb... but 256 will do it more better and I would recommend you adding more than 1 gig of ram, make it 2 gb of ram to give your vista a boost..

try disabling some of the visual effects. Ram should be increased that is the best answer, but you should also consider the graphic card.

Use vLite to rip out superfetch - it's blown CPU cycles on horrible cache misses, introducing overhead in the name of attempting to increase application load times - honestly applications load plenty fast for me, I'm more interested in application speed than how quick it loads.

Stripping out superfetch ALMOST made Vista usable for me... almost...

Though not to be a wise-ass, the ACTUAL solution to fixing all of Vista's problems is right here:

Yeah, more ram. Also, disable Windows Defender real-time scanner and Indexing.

Aero takes more video memory than processor/ram memory. Aero can't even start without a decent videocard.

Hi guys, thanks for all your input. I was hoping to start a thread that I but also other people could benefit from. Turns out a lot of the problem was just my ISP but it is still helpful to hear everyones thoughts and hopefully other people will benefit from this thread so feel free to continue adding to it.

Try to remove unnecessary startup processes from Start>Run>msconfig in the Startup tab.

Try to avoid using windows vista alltogether. If you have your old xp disc stick this in and wipe vista off. This way you can save the bother of hardware upgrades. :D
