I totally agree. It never crashed for me. And I don't have a turbine computer either So... people just like bashing with no real arguments.
Windows? It's all about the Mac! Personally, there are so many UI bugs with Vista - it's not even funny. Hopefully Windows 7 won't feel like a rush product with so many bugs.
I didn't vote because elephant shit wasn't a choice on that poll Vista is an old ME that looks nice. I'd pick elephant shit any day , it just came out just today We have to stick with the latest technology...
Boy it is easy to see which ones are the 'Gates Walks On Water' crowd. I run XP on 2 desktops and 1 laptop but the best of the lot is my Linux box running Susie (my desktop Apache server for development and fun play machine). I have copies of XP stashed for the future. Hell, I can't remember the last time XP crashed on me. And don't tell anyone but I don't run a firewall. XP does everything I need and more so why try to deal with an operating system that forces me to do it their way, not mine.
Go for Ubuntu and be done with it, other than vmware on my desktop and a cell phone that has WM6.1 I am windows free. Ubuntu has more eyecandy and works in my opinion a hell of a lot better than Vista. I run 5 computers on Ubuntu full time including my laptop and I have no issues at all. Install was easy and straight forward on all of the systems I use it on. http://www.ubuntu.com
I personally have every oprating system in my office but mac.... (changing very soon) Personally i love linux, but i also love my vista computers. All my computers are top of the line custom builds and i have never had a single issuse with vista besides needing to update a video card driver. People hate vista are just stuck in their roots. Vista will have its time and date as a good os, just people aren't ready fpr it. I have xp installed only on my lowest end computer my AMD Phenom Tri Core machine, but thats just because it only has 2 gb ram ect. I am using that mostly as a lan machine and i don't need the fun interface of vista. I like xp but its to dull and everyday for me. I pefer customizing my pcs, which is exactly why i custom build. Personally i pefer vista over xp. It may be slower but its more fun and laid back to me than xp which seems very blah and boring.
Ignoring all your boasting, why do you say people who hate vista are stuck in their roots? I hate it and for very good reason, its gone backward not forward, and apart from looking prettier (which you clearly like) it is far worse for the bog standard end user. In saying that, just like any platform, it will have its day.
As i said vista is an oprating system before it's time. Due to the lack of people having good enough systems it lacks alot. The big catch to vista over xp is directx10, any gamer will tell you how imporant that is. Also the fact that many software companies are cutting support of xp in their recent updates. Theres alot of plus features. It's just people aren't ready to upgrade and change.
I wish people would stop saying that those who complain about Vista are doing it for no reason, that they're stuck in the past, jumping on the bandwagon, [insert fave cliche here]. People are complaining because it has stuff wrong with it that makes it hard to get used to. No one needed to complain about XP when that was new because it just worked, and worked better than the one before it - made life easier and installing software simpler. This is how it should be. New versions shouldn't make things harder, make it more difficult to run stuff.
Windows 7 is not going to come any soon. It would be coming out in late 2009 or 2010 . SO till then hang on with XP . and if you can wait for that period for the laptop then atleast wait a month to get the proper reviews of Vienna (windows 7). I don't think MS would be making a blunder again by launching a product alike Vista.
Lol just got an IM from my friend working with ST microelectronics, this is what he said. " Vista Sucks Big time, none of my SDKs are working , performance degradation :| " No Idea what kind of easier installations does Vista provides. In the name of security if you ask ten times if you want to Open this .exe file.. I don't think it makes a secured OS. I am a huge MS fan but with Vista they made a blunder. Hope it isn't a case with Windows 7
Wait, SO whats good and whats bad about vista? I need a new laptop for buisness too and i'm a little confused...
I was wondering the same. Maybe windows 7 also sucks, when come out and need a period to grow up and fix errors found. Also what is the point of waiting 2 years for windows 7 if you need a laptop in the near future? My advice is go for XP since you mentioned that you don't like vista or buy Vista and downgrade to XP.
