I think vista depends on the capacity of the PC... must be higher than it's requirements the memory and disk storage.. That's what vista will be like when in fact it is new and many users ignored it... Vista is like a combination of linux and windows.. I hate that when they combined it... I've seen vista also I don't like it... xp for me heheheehe :D

That is an extreme statement to say.. there are plenty of MACs in India, Almost every Publication house, graphics media, multimedia company uses MAC.
I have seen many home users with MAC computers. Yes it was the case some 10 years back when MACs were rare in India, but now with a huge price drop, people are buying MAC for home use too..

Little Correction.. XP was launched after Windows 2000 and not Windows 98.
For me Windows 2000 is by far the best OS MS has ever come with... it never crashed my computer and I used it for more than 3 years..

I have to agree with you webmaster of all the OS Microsoft made 2000 was the easiest to maintain.

My first OS(operating system) was windows(98,2000,xp) almost 5yrs i use it..after 6yrs i change my OS into Linux but it was not able to go 5months due to difficult if you have something to do, again you need to install another plugins for that, but it was a very challenging to me coz less of mouse clicking everything will do in keyboarding lol..but i was realized linux is better for security than windows..for me windows or any windows is good for surfing, gaming, etc except security.

Lol, I am running Windows Vista Ultimate Edition and I have no problems what so ever, the only problem I see if for people who does the clean installations. If you do the upgrade you should be safe and be able to operate smoothly.

I'm a windows lover, lol. and I'll say if it wasn't for Bill Gates, you guys would probably not have macs. When Apple was totally failing in the 90's, Bill Gates reconciled with Steve Jobs and put $150 million into Apple from his own money. Its widely rumored that without this investment, Apple wouldn't have started its flagship product, the IPod. And the Ipod is what is funding the Apple empire.
But it wasn't a benevolent move on Bill Gates' part. He had lready crushed apple, business wise, so he moved on to other threats. Google wasn't such a titan then, but that investment allows Microsoft to hold on to their OS lead

well I don t like krosoft too much but you can t just keep adding features and run on low hardware, I imagine that there s a way to force vista to install on your 700mhz hp but you could also consider that it s time to let him go?

What are you talking about? It's more likely for things to go wrong for people who upgrade from XP instead of doing a clean install.

i currently use vista since i purchased a new computer and it came with it (i would have built my own system and loaded XP but i got a good deal on my computer). every copy of XP i have used has been pirated and i the only problems i had with windows crashing was from defective hardware. once i had perfectly running hardware, my xp machine was rock solid...wouldnt restart for months without any problems. and as for security, i have never had a virus, spyware, adware, malware or anything so i just dont get how people get hacked or get viruses so easily. sure i used a firewall and am really good with computers, but even with no firewall or virus protection, my computer never got infected.

i am now running vista and its almost as solid as my XP machine. ALMOST. a few programs dont work at all or work very slow and you might lose work from automatic updates and restarts if you dont change your settings. windows media player and media center are the worst part of my vista experience...

i might switch to mac just for video editing and graphic design but im mainly a windows guy. im pretty sure vista will get better when they release a service pack

You might have to wait for a service pack or two. Vista has real issues with other software especially security programs.

How do you turn off all of those alerts on Vista, driving me crazy. Only use it so we can validate code against it. Please advise...

Open up Control Panel, and type in user account into the search box. You'll see the link for "Turn User Account Control (UAC) on or off". Click it. Uncheck the box, and reboot your computer. You should be done with obnoxious prompts!

I wasn't a big vista fan at first but after using it/getting used to it I an in LOVE with it. Windows Aero is amazing and everything is lightning fast. It's a better overall experience once you get it down I think.

It's not so great at the price Microsoft has put on it's OS.
