For vista users , i need your help, with my new laptop system (Windows Vista)

The hard disk is divided only into 2 partitions (c) and (D) which is a recovery disk , I want to divide it into 4 partitions how can i do this?
also whenever i try to save on the (D) i recieve a message "You do not have a permission to save on this partion" , and i am using the admin ID ,

    Thanks

First, I wouldn't reccomend you to divide your HD in that amount of partitions, 2 is just fine.

But if you want, you can use tools like "Acronis Disk Director", or the good old Partition Magic.

The recovery partition cannot be formatted or partitioned by windows. You need to use a 3rd party tool.

First, have you tried to contact the vendor/seller for your laptop? They are in better position to solve the problem for you. If you do it yourself using third party software which can partitioned for you without loss of data, still, it is a needless to take that kind of risk after all.

    hi there

your D: partition is your recovery partition and u cannot save stuff to there. also i wouldnt delete it unless you have a backup but even then your OS files etc will be on the recovery partition. if u delete that you will need to source another OS CD.

as for having 4 partitions on the one drive. the drive goes, u loose the lot.

Id leave it alone or get acronis true image

I agree with thewolf32, but defore doing this create a restore CD. so that in case the system crashed or anything, you can restore it.
