Wanted to start off with something, I am familiar. Microsoft Vista, for one is the OS I use 75% of the time. I once heard a quote about PC usage that went something like this, "If you know all the ends and outs of your technology, especially your personal computer, than your technology is most likely outdated". I am from a different generation, where major corporations are not the evil monster, or big brother, I wasn't around when soylent green or the parallax view:), hit the theaters, I wasn't around for the oil crisis, and I was an elementary student when money was for nothing and the chicks come free, So I most likely do not share in the view of Microsoft or any other "big corporation", as the source of evil or the problem of the day. I attempt to enjoy the new "advancements", and the changing of the game each time I get used to the last one. And recently, I wanted to begin uploading and downloading files, via FTP...like usually before I do something on Vista or any other program, I use F1 or the Help:D.lol. ( I don't have problems with help, and F1 still hasn't changed.) And I found that the Vista OS has a fun built in command line FTP. I toyed with it one .jpg broke, the rest of the files worked. So, I googled it :eek:and found all manners of folks had trouble with their third party FTP and had no desire to use the command line feature. Since it's a command line feature, Maybe some one who knows more about it can tell us all some neat stuff that can be done with the feature? I started my search here: http://techrepublic.com.com/2346-10877_11-176564-1.html
    of course there is here:
    http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/2244170f-1fa3-418a-a203-1e2a8e5d8a3f1033.mspx
    and don't forget F1

If you are using a third party FTP with Vista, I highly recommend you set your firewall settings to allow the software, I have also found that using Spybot Search and Destroy to monitor your programs rather than Norton or Windows firewall suggestion, gives you greater control...Not sure about the threats or level of security, I am sure you won't have FTP problems. I think it's neat, but i think any command line stuff is neat, what about you'all?
