Unlike XP which runs every program and processes with a definite purpose, but for Vista...umm it's running almost up to 100 processes which you cannot assure if that much is what Vista require to function. This is one of the problem which led to millions of Vista users complaining regarding this issue. One tried his luck to end a process which is taking fairly little memory but too bad after that HIS PC IS RUINED, everything corrupted included the hard disk. Anyone has a reason why vista required so much processes to be ran?
on my laptop with vista i just disabled the ones that i was sure werent needed.. it helped speed things up alot.. and you can always use system restore or enable the service again if it was needed..
I only have 65 running and that includes both Vista and the 10+ programs I have running.....you are crazy.
I have 87 processes running right now. Of these which ones are you sure I can remove? Vista is driving me crazy.
there are alot of tweeking software online, look around. also to speed it up registry wise try "1st registry cleaner" i highly recommend it for any version of windows.
I have 76 processes running, the biggest being Opera and then Desktop Window manager. Looking at the list there's at least a dozen I could probably turn off like the finger print reader and side bar thing. I knew Vista was going to be a hog so set myself up with the fastest processors, ram and graphics card Dell would let me put on an XPS (5.1 on the old windows index) and it seems to have worked, my tranisition to Vista in the last couple of weeks has been painless so far Dare I say it, I'm actually enjoying using Vista! I had a friend that bought a Compaq last year with 2GB ram, and his computer is slow as hell.
Haha so far I have no problems with them though, creating this thread is just to state the fact of Vista "behind the scenes". My laptop is having 2GB RAM, 160GB hard disk, intel core 2 duo 2.2 and so far doing so good. I cant say Vista is good nor bad as I've just used it for 4 months and it didn't really halt me from my daily work. Even so, I do see some pc with 1GB ram are doing fine with Vista(basic to business), I cant really determine the exact factor to the downfall of speed in some pc.
Spyware and viruses, I reckon. I have only 2GB RAM and it works fast (5.3 windows index). I would have 4GB RAM but 2 of my DIMM slots are broken on the motherboard...
Thats same when it uses Heavy Processing for transpirancy and effect....when we Use Compiz Fusion on ubuntu to create the same traspirent effect it also faces performance issues
I have 80 processes running right now and using 1 gb of ram ! hopefully i have 2 gb of RAM yeah vista needs much resources...
I have heard lots of people complaining about Vista being slow. Is it a reason for that. All of new computers with good RAM such 2GB ddram, how could Vista be so slow?
I run Windows Vista Home Premium and have 52 processes running at the moment, and that includes Firefox, AIM, etc., as well as something for my printer and PunkBuster for a game. Why do you have so many processes running? What are they?
I've got two laptops, one that came with Vista and one that came with XP and a free upgrade disc for Vista. Vista sucks and I wish I could downgrade to XP. Oh well, live and learn. I'm really starting to like the Mac ads, they're slowly working on me. I've never owned a Mac and I'm not kidding when I say my next PC might be a Mac (thanks to my Vista "experience").
Only I used to have 20+ programs running on XP and never had more than 50 processes. I've tweaked the hell out of Vista and I have 50+ all the time. My computers good so no problems, I can see how a slower computer can get bogged down and why so many stick with XP unless they have a decent setup.
i once tried to upgrade to vista..it was not compatible lol..never tried it after that ..seems i did the right thing.
