what kind of virus scanner/anti virus software do you use ?

I use Norton - After about 6 years of using it I knew it's not the best and I'm switching to kaspersky now because it can identify much more number of viruses

AVG is installed on most of my machines, including hers. I've got Avast on my Server '03 machine right now, as I just installed the x64 version.

They've all got faults though, I went through 5 different ones last week when I seemed to have picked up a virus on my server. Thought I finally had it gone after Avast and Kaspersky picked up a couple that the others didn't, but it still came back.. Even a repair install didn't work, had to finally just chuck it all and do a complete install. Hence the move finally to x64.

Look, when your PC is infected, better unplug your HDD and plug it into a clean system which has an antivirus installed and scan your HDD from there

when you scan infected machine from internal virus scanner, infected system files currently loaded won't be repaired

I always have a USB drive that I use as clean boot to repair my PC when i have anything wrong with it but i rarely use it for myself as i always have auto protection enabled :D

The virus scanner would need to have changes to it in order to take advantage of this feature. I doubt any non microsoft tools are making use of this yet.
