Visitors don't click on my Adsense Ads, Why?

I'm getting around a thousand uniques a day, over 3000 pageviews, and a huge slice of traffic coming from google search. Yet of the 3000 views, i rarely get clicks. I got 2 link ads units (780x15 links ads). One i placed on where we usually find the categories of a wordpress blog. The second I placed just on top of the comment form. I get around 200 comments in my homepage a day, but too low on clicks. What should I do?

    Date - Pageviews - Clicks
    Feb 20, 2012 - 3,101 - 15
    Feb 21, 2012 - 3,497 - 25
    Feb 22, 2012 - 3,533 - 14
    Feb 23, 2012 - 3,110 - 9

Is this something normal? Please help.

Because they aren't interested in it. Maybe you should search for a ad platform that is specially designed for your niche.

Have you optimized your allowed ad categories that may interest people who like your specific niche.

My niche is about a local lottery that visitors play everyday. They go there to get predictions on winning lottery numbers. Analytics says 65% returning visitors, around 35% are new visitors. When I load the page from my computer, i get pretty relevant ad units. Something like: Lottery Results, Winning Numbers, Lottery Guides

Could there be a reason why i'm getting very low clicks? I think my placement of the link ads near the header just below the site title (where you usually see the categories) is good. Well, it's just that out of the thousands visitors, only a small few would click on it.

That's wonderful, your site is about somethign which is forbidden by basic Adsense TOS. No need to think more about what you think is your problem, because that's a much bigger problem.

This is true because adsense does not allow gambling related sites. I suggest you remove your adsense ads maybe google won't ban you! Don't waste your account on this, search for other money source that allows gambling related sites.

You may be better offer promoting Lottery Ebooks from ClickBank or something.

It seems that most of the users on your site know exactly what they are there for, get the information and leave by themselves.

Why don't you post on the Google support forums about why your lottery site isn't receiving a lot of AdSense clicks? I recommend showing your exact URL and a screenshot of your CTR from your AdSense account. I'm sure Google will do something about your click problem to ensure that you never encounter that issue again.

You should definitely try experimenting with ad placement/size -- it can make a big difference.

Add three ads to your site. Use the 300x250 ads below your post titles (to the right or to the left, experiment). Blend your ads.

You should try changing ads placement for a while and see if it changes the situation. The size of ads also too small. You should try the big square ads.
