Since yesterday I got a HUGE surge in visitors and I believe it will recede. There have been few xx clicks and I am worried if Google will see these visitors/clicks invalid, all visitors are coming from single referrer Please advise! By the way, there hasn't been any invalid clicks, I am worried because all visitors are coming from single referrer and its surge TIA
Uhm as long as the visitors have differnet ips i dont see why this should be a problem. Otherwise if your site gets on cnn.com or something and you get a ton of clicks... google cant ban you for that.
I wouldn't worry about it. My christmas site SKYROCKETED during the week of xmas, and then quickly came back down to earth..no worries
I don't think I would worry about the surge....all sites have their ups and downs and I think google would be aware of this. If google came asking questions, your server logs would back you up with all the unique IP addresses.
Google never asks questions, they straight away ban your adsense account leaving no room to make a case. I already wrote to them
Well, that is rubbish to start with. You will not be all-out wiped without a warning/ question email from G, unless it is very obvious that you are buggering about. Who is this referrer that you have a sudden surge from? Has your site been taken up by a local newspaper site or popular directory? More info is needed before you can expect a reasonable reply, my friend.
Its irrelavent from where I got visitors, and I see I already got reasonable responses, so you can chill a little.
I know I'm knew, however I have been on the receiving end of Google not asking questions. When Adsense-Earning.com first came on the scene I joined and quickly saw an increase in my Google ad clicks. I upgraded to pro-member and even purchased traffic packages. Within a week I had accumulated over $700. The following week the account was disabled and all monies within forfieted. (About $50.00 of this had taken me 4 months to build up and countless internet hours!) I obviously wrote to Google who sent a standard letter stating that illegal clicks had been made on my account, all monies would be returned to the relevant advertisers and that I was no longer welcome. I wrote again and asked if it was because of my involvement with Adsense-Earning.com and that if it was could they not allow the account to continue less the revenue derived from this source. There answer was the same as the previous one. The moral of the story is therefore, if in doubt get Google to make a decision and put it in writting to you before doing ANYTHING that they might consider to be outside their TOS. Phill. P.S. This isn't meant to be seen as a negative post, just informative. I still think Google Adsense is one of the most remarkable income generators to ever be launched on the internet.
I suspect it was more than just the quantity of traffic that got you kicked. If it's all legit (read between the lines ), there shouldn't be anything to worry about, but a heads up to Google shouldn't hurt (and they do welcome it.)
I'm pretty certain it was due to the number of impressions to clickthrough which obviously put red flags up all over the place at Google. it was their attitude that annoyed me. I didn't personally make a single illegal click, which I explained. Agreed that if it was because they didn't want clicks from specific exchanges (they never confirmed or denied) that they should remove the revenue associated with this particular source and I would never use that source again. Obviously not exceptable as I never got that account back or the money that had absolutely nothing to do with this. So be it. Phill
Ive seen sites go from 0 to 6000+ daily uniques and back down and it not be a problem for adsense in anyway. No harm in warning them and covering your back too though.
Hmm, my apologies Dshah. I did not mean to offend you but in my own experience Google has contacted me way at the beginning of my AS adventures. They did not just chuck me out but gave me the opportunity to answer their questions. So... IMHO it is rubbish to say that Google never asks questions. And if your site had been picked up for any reason by a larger, high-traffic site for some reason that could explain a surge in visitors could it not? Again, I have seen this myself when my site was quoted on a German travel site. So, the source of the visitor surge is relevant especially if you were wanting to send a heads-up to Google. At this time of night, which is usually the only time I get on DP these days, I am so chilled that I am practically frozen. I even forgive you for your little present. I'm sure it will all be fine and a note to Google would not hurt, if only to lay your own worries to rest.
I think it is irrelavent for them , from where all the traffic came from.... only think they whould look is whether there are any irrelavent clicks. There are many sites which have huge surges in traffic amounts... so it shouldnt be a problem for you...
