Visitor count spikes when I login...why?

    Hi everyone, I have a PR3 site/blog and I recently noticed that whenever I login to my WordPress Admin (or the site in general) I get an instant spike of 10-20 people jump on out of no where. What I want to know is, how do they know I'm logging in when I'm the only administrator? I have around 1000 members and I suspect some are using some sort of spying tool. Is it possible? If so, how?

    Also, does anyone know the shortcode for my site's "member count" to display? I can display site stats for visits so far, but I need to add the amount of members registered also.
