VirtualHost accessable from main domain - how to stop

I have two domains running on one VPS. One domain is running as a virtualHost.

Unfortunately, it remains accesible from the main URL, which I would like to put a stop to.

In other words, www.virtualHost.com (which resides in the folder /example/) is accessible through both:

www.virtualhost.com

and

www.mainsite.com/example

I am sure there is something simple I am missing in setting up the htppd.conf

Any help would be appreciated

Move your DocumentRoot for virtual host to some other location is the best I can suggest.
