Virtual pet site with a difference - 1k members

I'm looking to sell a virtual pet site I own, as I need the money! It'll also help me in the long run as it will allow me to concentrate solely on one of my other sites.

What?
The site allows members to sign up and create a virtual pet site of their own, without having to deal with any html code or pay for a server etc. This has massive appeal to younger members, as they can basically have a website of their own which they can easily customise how they like without having to do much work.

Potential
The site can make money from a number of ways. Firstly, from Adsense or YPN ads placed on the site. You could make it so Adsense appears on every new members site. Imagine, with thousands of members, the kind of income you could be getting from Adsense alone. Secondly, you could advertise products of your own to members and offer them discounts etc. One option would be to purchase rights to a more basic virtual pet script I own and then sell that through the site to members. You could sell it at $20-$30 a time and by averaging just 3 sales a week, that would be $200-$300+ monthly income. If you advertise the site, even if just a little, you could probably get 10-50 new members daily which translates into at least 300 potential customers monthly.
Really, the potential is huge and just typing this is making me have second thoughts about selling the site. In fact, if I don't get any good offers, I won't sell.

Currently looking at the database in phpmyadmin, the site has 1,317 members, but a number of these are duplicate or test accounts. I'm not sure how many are genuine accounts, maybe 500-1000 of them. This site has hardly been advertised at all yet still manages to get new members.

I'm looking to sell the site itself for $1250. I'll consider offers close to this.
Additionally, I will sell rights to the other virtual pet script I own (see here). I currently sell the script through my script-selling site. It is one of the scripts which has had more interest than most since I took over the site. For rights to this script, I'd like $650. I'm less open to negotiation on that price, but if someone buys both the site and rights to the other script, I'll accept $1650.

Here are webalizer stats for August so far:

As you'll see, not many visitors but even with the small amount of traffic going to the site new members are joining.
The site was moved to a new server a week ago too, so I think the stats must only be for since the site was moved. I'll see if I can get previous traffic stats, but I'm not sure if that is possible.
Remember, with this site, you're buying the potential mainly, with the current traffic and active members being a bonus really!

Like I said, there are over 1300 members shown in phpmyadmin. I did a search and 200 appear with no points (they are probably inactive). On top of this there may be some users who no longer use the site. So, I'm afraid I can't give an exact figure but I'd estimate at least a few hundred members are active, and up to 1000 are. But bear in mind its more likely 100-750 of them are active.

All errors will be looked in to and the site will be 100% fixed for the buyer.

The script is custom developed and unique, and you'll get exclusive rights to it. One other person owns the script as it was sold to them when it was created, but they only have a license for one domain. They don't own any resale rights, and by now they may even have closed the site, I'm not sure what they've done.

That site was created like FVPS for somebody else, but they never paid for it. Now somebody else owns the domain, but I don't think they're planning to do anything with it, as its been parked for a while.

 

I guess I would have known that had I checked the link in your sig first...lol! So, what's the main difference between your $650 script and the 29.95 version?? I couldn't get the log in to your site to work to check it out for myself. Sorry...

 

The deal is, for $650 you get rights to the $29.95 version, so you can resell it. If you just bought one license at $29.95, you could only use it on one domain and not resell it etc. However, if you buy the master rights for $650, you are free to resell the script or do what you like with it.

Also, remember, the site I'm selling, FVPS, is more advanced than the basic ($29.95) script. It allows members to create a virtual pet site of their own easily whereas the basic virtual pet script just allows them to have a virtual pet.

 

To be honest, I can't afford the elaborate version right now, as I just bought 4 sites this week so far, but I would be VERY interested in getting a copy of the 29.95 script to make a site for my gf. I just have a couple of quick questions first.

My gf is an artist and I was wondering if there is a way for her to make original creatures drawn in Photoshop that others could play with on the site.

Second, I saw a screenshot showing some sort of village with a chat room. Is that this script or is it another one?

Lastly, I was going to get one of your competitors scripts awhile ago but was told it couldnt be run as an addon site with my shared hosting, but I'm guessing that was only with the version where others could create their own sites. Can the basic version where visitors just play games on the site be run as an addon domain on shared hosting? I would guess the elaborate version would eat a lot of bandwidth having 1000 member sites, but I should be ok with the basic one, right?

- You could make custom creatures and then just replace the custom images with those already existing in the database (keep all the names of the images that you create the same as those already on the site)
- If you want to add your custom pets, rather than replace the existing ones with them, that should also be possible but it would require some script modification so would cost a little extra
- Can you tell me where you saw this screenshot? If you want to test out the features of the site, you can login using 'test1' as the username and password.
- You can use the basic version one as an addon site, yes. Also, the more elaborate version is designed to use as little bandwidth/space as possible (users sites are not created as extra folders on the domain), but yes, that version would use a fair bit more bandwidth than the basic version.

I have a few ideas in mind for the site now, so am starting to become less inclined to actually sell it, but saying that I do need the money so if I receive a good four figure offer I will still sell.
