I built this site for my wife for our new baby (due May 8th!), and we decided to open this up for other people to use too. http://MyVirtualShower.com The site allows people to create virtual baby showers with: - photo gallery - blog - registry - buddylist The registry will allow users to add products and link over to their online registries (for target, BabiesRUs, etc.) or add products from Amazon directly. Currently, the registry items will also allow users to notate that they have gotten that gift, and it greys the gift out. We've also included an easy way to add the ChipIn widget to the shower. We are using it to help with our medical expenses (since my wife can't get insurance). I've had several people say that they like the convenience of donating versus buying a gift, and they like that they can help out the parents directly. Future features include: - guestbook - ability to change the theme/template for the baby shower - adding more information - increased options for private showers - tool to generate paper invitations and thank you notes - tool to track So - please check out My Virtual Shower and let me know what you think. I would love to know of any additional features or tools that you think would be useful. Thanks! Ron Northcutt Freelance Developer http://www.RealTidings.com PS In the next phase we will be offering a limited free account and a paid upgraded account... so if you know anyone who is pregnant, tell them to check it out now. We will upgrade everyone for free who is signed up before then.
Awesome idea. Nice design. My wife is pregnant and I know she would have used this type of site to help manage all this stuff... craig
Thanks, Craig... any features you can think of that might help your wife? Maybe a map to your physical baby shower, and RSVP tool or even a countdown for the physical event? I want this to be a great extension for a physical shower as well as a virtual one. Ron
Good idea. I would work on the choice of colors. Looking at text alone, you have pink, black, gray, orange, and have over used bold in the price and purchase stuff.
